"The lives of children are positively changed because of your purchase..."

Eight year old Salia Agandaa now has his very own bicycle because of your purchases of baskets. Salia and his classmates previously walked an 8 mile round trip to school every day that was a horrid 3 hour walk on foot. Numerous distributors gave money back to cover the international shipping charges for these donated bikes to reach the village. Every basket purchased from our organization contributes to the sustainability and survival of artisans and their families. Each basket provides a new life to at least 6 people from the weaving to the transport to the USA and to market for your purchase. Amazing to know that each basket purchased provides sustainability to the weavers and their family, global community growth, food, education and medical care. Many young women are going to school and not forced to leave home for prostitution. To educate a girl in Ghana for one year costs about $100.00.

ONE BASKET PURCHASED...Sends a child walking to school or a child will receive medical care.....

Child Labor:
We do not approve of exploitative child labor.  However, we are aware that due to the nature of some family handcraft businesses, artisans will include their children in apprenticeship programs that benefit the family and preserve their craft tradition.

Education:
The Blessing Basket Project and your support has provided many more children receiving an education in the countries we serve.  Often children cannot attend school unless their families provide uniforms and school supplies that are out of the reach of extremely poor families.  Our prosperity wages help entire villages to overcome this terrible poverty.  By giving our weavers enough money to buy schooling for their youngsters, we have given these children hope and opportunities they might never have had. Pictured are the children going to school from just a few weavers prospering from their wages.

Teenagers in Uganda are weaving Blessing Baskets.  Teen pregnancy in Uganda is rampant as poverty forces the girls out of school.  Because of The Project many of these girls have been able to return to school. 14 year-old Namatovu Teopista earns $5.00 a month as a field worker in her village. The work is exhausting and is the only way to pay for her school fees.
One payment from us for her baskets enabled her to pay for school for an entire year! Weaving Blessing Baskets has replaced hard labor for the youth in these villages.

Nutrition:Our weavers are able to offer their families more nutritious and more frequent meals because of their prosperity wages.  Their children have a better chance in life with better brain and body development due to better nutrition.  Can you imagine that just one set of Uganda Butterfly Baskets feeds 90 full course meals for a family of one our weavers!

Many Ugandan children have either been orphaned by AIDS or by political uprisings in their country.  Because of The Blessing Basket Project, these children will enjoy a much better life. This is speaking of just one of many countries Blessing Baskets has helped sustained with your support!
